Overview
The NTU School of
Art, Design and Media Interdisciplinary curriculum is instrumental in the
transformation of Singapore into a regional centre of design and
media, providing students with the knowledge and tools to develop and produce
ground-breaking art, design and media. ADM students are challenged to think in new ways about how to formulate and
communicate significant strategic messages and to create the new narratives
that will form the basis of the new entertainment forms.
ADM students explore the form and function of objects, products and interactive experiences. Each programme maintains an intellectual and scholarship focus balance with a "hands-on" studio practice. Students work in the immediacy a concentrated studio practice - in a directed problem solving method. Using "design thinking" process students define, research, ideate, prototype, choose, implement, and learn. The approach fosters a maximum of input and participation and eliminates the fear of failure and leads to creative and effective designed solutions.
In academic year 2008 - 2009 the School offers six degree programmes that combine a rigorous first year in traditional studio disciplines with innovative development in new media. The degree programmes incorporate contemporary art, design and media studies with an emphasis on studio practice. These programmes reflect a breadth of interests relevant both regionally and globally, and are structured to allow the possibility of interdisciplinary studies.
